When Google announced that they would be giving out Google Glass to some of the people, everyone started thinking that well than the Google Glass launch must be near. For some time now, we had been hearing that Google Glass would probably out by the end of this year but that is not the case.
Google’s Eric Schmidt explained in an recent interview that Google wants to tweak the Google Glasses after getting feedback from their early adopters. The final, consumer ready version of the Google Glass would be available “probably a year-ish away”. There is no more information on that but since Google I/O 2013 is just around the corner, hopefully we could get to hear more about it there.

Previously, we all thought that probably Google Glass would be running some version of Android which means that it would have a big world of possibilities for what developers can do for it, but that is not the case either. It happens to be that Google Glass won’t allow any app to run natively and would rely on web-based apps. What makes it even more difficult is the fact that Google Glass wont even have a built-in cellular radio. Also apps won’t be allowed to interact directly with the Google Glass video in any way which could produce augmented reality. This is very disappointing because augmented reality seemed to blend in perfectly with the platform.
Let’s wait and watch what Google has for the future of Google Glass because Google could always expand the possibilities in the future releases of the device.
